The inspiration for Samphire came after a long Sunday lunch in Hammersmith. Foregoing coffee for a fresh sprig of verbena from the garden, I was captivated by its clean, cool aroma. Moving from the garden to the lab, we blended rapier-like juniper, citrus oils, and hints of lavender, basil and rosemary. These blend with verbena to layer over base notes of white amber and oak moss to create a crisp, cool, assured scent with a lightness of touch that belies its complexity and longevity on the skin. When we had finished, the scent was so clearly evocative of the seashore we could only call it Samphire.
