Love is what makes the world go round, right? Well, that’s what the old saying tells us anyway! But what does it mean to experience Real Love? Not the kind of cliché, OTT moments we see in films but the little things that make us stop and smile. It could be your partner surprising you with a gift to pick you up after a long week or when they do the housework without being asked!
This Valentine’s Day, at The Perfume Shop, we wanted to celebrate Real Love, with real people and real moments! So, we enlisted the help of the great British public to share what real love meant to them.
Take a look at what our survey of over 600 people in relationships revealed below, and who knows, you may discover some Real Love inspiration to make this Valentine’s Day (and beyond) a truly romantic affair!
1. Treat time
When you’re in a relationship, it takes work and dedication to keep things moving forward. Whilst arranging date nights and having something to look forward to is amazing, 75% of our couples thought little surprises meant more! So couples, take note - spontaneous days out and little treats (ahem, a new bottle of perfume would certainly do the trick) could be the recipe for long-lasting love!
2. It's a surprise
Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day… throughout the year there are quite a few occasions where you need to find the best present for your significant other. While it can be tempting to just ask what they want, as 63% of the people we asked agreed, it eliminates the element of surprise and romance! So, next time you’re looking for a gift why not try our Fragrance Finder? Simply answer a few questions and we'll help you find a scent that will make your partner smile from ear to ear!
3. How was your day?
Whether you have had a good or bad day, your partner asking how you are is a sign they genuinely care, and 71% of our panel agreed! Being able to either vent about your day or celebrate your achievements with the love of your life is more of a sign of Real Love than just saying ‘I love you’. Although, we’re sure a combination of the two feels just as great too!
4. Wine & Dine at home
Going out to a restaurant has its perks, but when your partner cooks your favourite meal at home it certainly has a more romantic feel to it, and 68% off our couples agreed! Set the mood at home by lighting a few candles and completing your evening outfit with a spritz of your signature scent to make it a more intimate occasion.
5. I’ll Miss You
While we're spending more time than ever at home with a partner, 77% of the people we asked agreed that giving each other space was just as important as spending time together! Giving each other that little bit of space means when you do come together again you'll have more to discuss and experiences to share!
