Want a new scent for a good start to 2020? Then choose a perfume with trending notes – they’re all the craze this month. Some scents come and go but you’ll want to spritz these scents into spring…
TRENDING NOTE #1: ALMOND
Whether you like it or hate it in food form, we guarantee you need an almond scent in your life. The smell? Both bitter and sweet, mysterious and moreish, bringing a fun, playful vibe to fragrance. Look out for almond tones mixed with creamy dessert-like notes and florals. Our top picks are Carolina Herrera Good Girl for her, which launched back in 2018, with its notes of almond, cacao, vanilla and coffee. Bvlgari Splendida Jasmin Noir for her mixes top notes of gardenia, a heart of almond and jasmine and base notes of patchouli for a more floral-gourmand blend. Keep your eyes peeled for new perfumes with wafts of almond for 2020 – you’ll love to spray these for work, play and everything in between.
TRENDING NOTE #2: JASMINE
Jasmine and its popularity in the fragrance world is nothing new, especially as we head towards spring. However, 2020 will see a surge in different forms of jasmine appearing in your perfume bottles. There are over 200 forms of jasmine, which is why perfumers rely on it for a sweet, intense aroma in their creations. The latest jasmine perfume to launch, which puts the ingredient centre stage, is the unisex Gucci Mémoire d’Une Odeur, oozing coral jasmine (night-blooming jasmine) and jasmine petals, with added hints of chamomile and vanilla. Or look to Valentino Donna Born In Roma for her to experience jasmine sambac (Arabian jasmine) with jasmine tea (blackcurrant and bergamot, too). Get ready to spot even more types of jasmine in new perfumes launching in 2020…
TRENDING NOTE #3: BERRIES
You can’t get more delicious than a sweet-smelling perfume with naturally sugary, fresh notes of berries, so it’s big news that these are trending now. Berries belong to the gourmand fragrance family, but it seems they have been the underdog over the years to mainstream favourites such as chocolate and caramel. But 2020 is the year berries are making an appearance in new perfumes, giving fragrance a flirty and fun vibe that’s perfect for every special occasion. We’re obsessing over 2019’s answer to berries: Burberry Her Intense, which bursts with blackberries, cherries and violet, and Kierin NYC Nitro Noir, which promises to transport you to the Big Apple, thanks to its notes of pink berries with patchouli (and it’s unisex, vegan and 100% recyclable, too).
