Do you want that just-spritzed-my-fragrance feeling all day long? Help is at hand – literally. Thanks to our insider hacks, you’ll be smelling of your favourite scent for longer. Cue the ‘what are you wearing?’ compliments…
1. New Hair Rules
Hitting the standard pulse points is fabulous, but you can go one further by spritzing your hair too. To avoid drying out the strands, we recommend spraying your fragrance directly on to your hairbrush and then working it through your tresses. Or direct the spritz above your head and walk into the scented mist.
2. Top up throughout the day
It’s so obvious it’s often overlooked, but if you want your fragrance to last all day long then a little top up wouldn’t go amiss. If you don’t want to lug around your full-size bottle then try a travel-friendly atomiser that you can dispense your favourite fragrance into.
3. Stop rubbing your wrists
Whoever started the rumour that rubbing a fragrance has special magic powers is having the last laugh because it has the opposite effect! Ask yourself this – why are you doing it? We don’t rub in deodorant spray under our pits or rub incense sticks together, so why do we have this knee-jerk spritz reaction?
Instead, let the fragrance dry down completely on your skin to maximise the chances of it lasting on the skin. Also, the rubbing is said to remove the top notes of the fragrance which may adapt how it should actually smell. It’s a big no-no from us.
4. Store your bottle properly
You could have the fragrance #shelfie of dreams, but if you’re displaying all your bottles in the wrong conditions then you’re at risk of ruining the precious elixir. Damp and warm environments (so your bathroom or a shelf by the window) could break down and lessen the quality of your scent.
5. Fall in love with the art of layering
The easiest way to maximise the life of your fragrance is to layer it over its matching scented shower gel and body lotion. The added moisturisation also helps the scent cling on for longer. For best results, always use the matching scented products, like we have done in our video below, as you may alter the fragrance itself if you mix and match. Time to dig out that trusty gift set!
