While Valentine’s Day might automatically conjure images of red roses and heart-shaped chocolates, there are ways to get creative when it comes to giving gifts … We’re talking gorgeous Valentine’s scents!
Getting your loved one perfume is a great way to make February 14th extra special. Plus, giving perfume as a gift is a more memorable alternative to the many ‘traditional’ flowers, balloons and cuddly toys people often receive as Valentine’s gifts. Worn on the skin, a fragrance is far more intimate – and special as a result.
So whether your beloved is a fan of roses in her perfume (not just in a vase!) or if she prefers a bright, citrus scent, below is our pick of the top ten Valentine’s scents to dial up the romance…
1. No. 5 Eau de Parfum by Chanel
The sight of this iconic bottle makes us so happy, and that’s before we even get to what’s inside! Probably one of the most famous fragrances of all time and for good reason – No. 5 features rose, jasmine and a good glug of aldehydes (these are what give a perfume the ‘twinkle factor’). You really can’t go wrong with this stunning scent.
2. J'Adore by Dior
A 90s classic, this golden floral fragrance with notes of peachy rose is simply sublime. The main notes of magnolia, peach, jasmine and vanilla all seem to ‘shimmer’ on the skin beautifully, and together will smell sweet enough to keep her on a fragrant sugar high throughout the day.
3. Chloe Eau de Parfum by Chloe
If she’s fond of roses, this gorgeous little number puts a unique spin on this famous flower. Fresh and flirtatious, it combines the rose with powdery floral notes of peony and freesia, before drying down to a delicate whisper of cedarwood and amber. It’s the perfect scent for any free spirit!
4. Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier
If you want to have a romantic night in, this trés chic and oh-so-seductive scent will work a treat at setting the mood. From the fashion house of Gaultier (known for its provocative and rebellious take on glamour), Classique features an intoxicating blend of orange and vanilla, with sharp notes of ginger making for a highly addictive concoction.
5. Si by Armani
If she loves a dash of modern glamour, this is the scent for her. This timeless perfume features a rich enveloping heart of Rose de Mai, complemented by sharp notes of blackcurrant. Its sweet and slightly spiky character is further enhanced with ylang-ylang and two kinds of jasmine making for one of the most interesting and sensual perfumes we’ve ever encountered.
6. Lady Million by Paco Rabanne
Another example of a classic scent you can’t really go wrong with. If she’s very driven and enjoys a ‘work hard, play hard’ lifestyle, this dazzling perfume is the perfect way to treat her (once she finally puts her feet up!). Lady Million EDP makes a stunning impression from the very first spritz with enveloping notes of raspberry, sweet orange and jasmine. The bling-tastic bottle will look great on a dressing table too.
7. Modern Muse by Estee Laudere
If you really want to win some brownie points come February 14th, you can’t go wrong with the classic house of Estee Lauder! Modern Muse is one of their newer scents, but just as timeless and unique – with a jazzy woody-floral bouquet that ticks all the romance boxes in the same way as champagne on ice, home-cooked spaghetti carbonara and D’Angelo crooning out over the speakers!
8. Flower by Kenzo
Inspired by the poppy, this soft and feminine scent is instantly recognisable by its stunning curved bottle. And yes, we know poppies have no scent – but this is instead a ‘tribute’ to what that emblematic flower *might* smell like if it had a fragrance. With pretty notes of Bulgarian rose, Parma violet, white musk and vanilla, it smells modern but has a vintage vibe at the same time.
9. Daisy by Marc Jacob
A bright, youthful scent that has stood the test of time – this is perfect for anyone who is young at heart (no matter their age)! Boasting a cheery blend of wild berries and soft violets, it reminds us of bright shiny mornings in springtime – and can easily be worn during the day all the way through to evening.
10. Eternity by Calvin Klein
Calvin Klein is famous for their distinct and original approach to fragrance and this soft yet addictive creation is no exception. Eternity is probably most famous for its iconic campaign featuring a young, windswept Kate Moss wearing zero makeup! If your special lady is looking to switch up her signature fragrance, you can’t go wrong with this timeless yet understated scent!
