It’s International Women’s Day on Friday, 8 March 2019, which we’re marking by putting the spotlight on female perfumers (you go, girls!). Here are our top three fragrances…
CHLOE LOVE STORY: ANNE FLIPO
Anne Flipo is a legend in our eyes. The perfumer from Paris has created some of the most iconic fragrances, including Chloé Love Story. ‘My passion for perfume started in a garden. Flowers have always had a strong appeal for me,’ she says. ‘Later on, I discovered that the connection between taste and smell is so tight. I love using orange blossom, neroli and sandalwood in my compositions.’
For Chloé Love Story, Anne blended two of her favourite notes – sensual orange blossom and sweet neroli – along with fresh jasmine and warm cedarwood for an unforgettable, romantic blend. ‘I think Love Story can be worn for any activity, occasion or mood. It’s so natural and yet so deep,’ she says.
COACH THE FRAGRANCE: JULIETTE KARAGUEUZOGLOU
Parisian perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou is all about creating fragrances that stay true to the brand. And that was certainly true for Coach The Fragrance Eau de Parfum. ‘The fragrance is inspired by the energy of New York and the sensuality of the Coach brand,’ she says. ‘It’s very powerful – you need to feel good and feminine in it.’
We’re big fans of the scent, which we’re totally spritzing everywhere this International Women’s Day. It opens with sparkling raspberry and fresh mandarin, then it’s all about the mimosa accords and jasmine. And, finally, the sensual sandalwood and vanilla last on your skin for hours. How perfect!
CACHAREL YES I AM: HONORINE BLANC
Yes I Am is spicy, fruity and VERY sexy. It may look like a lipstick, but it’s actually the coolest perfume bottle around – and we’re all over it for International Women’s Day. Honorine Blanc, born and raised in Lebanon, is the master behind this perfume. Alongside perfumer Christophe Raynaud, Honorine devised the first spicy cremoso (cream of cardamom) accord in the fragrance world. ‘This is a daring fragrance with an unexpected contrast between a sensual creamy accord and the power of spicy cardamom,’ says Honorine. ‘It’s daring – like the women who wear it.’
The exact recipe? A fizzy cocktail of raspberry and mandarin, cream of cardamom, jasmine, ginger flower and sandalwood. Be right back, we’re just going to bathe in it.
