This, people, is the trend of the future. Perfume pairs are launching in their masses and have been super-successful for 2017. Today, your fave brands don’t just launch one perfume but a male-and-female option – and, TBH, we love the idea.
‘It’s interesting watching this trend develop,’ says fragrance expert, Nick Gilbert. ‘Traditionally, a brand would launch a feminine fragrance and the masculine counterpart would follow months or maybe years down the line once the feminine had proven popular. Paco Rabanne flipped the head on this by launching the masculine 1 Million first and then Lady Million - and again with Invictus and Olympea.’
But why has the trend boomed this year? The SCENTS blog investigates…
1. Why bring out one when you can bring out two?
Now obviously we would say this – but the more perfumes, the better! Yup. So why bring out one perfume when you can launch two, which will change customers’ lives forever? Exactly. Our current faves? Calvin Klein Obsessed for her (£35 for 30ml, £50 for 50ml, £68 for 100ml), which mixes citrus, white lavender and musk, and Calvin Klein Obsessed For Men (£45 for 75ml, £57 for 125ml), a masculine blend of grapefruit, pepper and vanilla. The perfect pair? We think so.
2. They're couple-friendly
Like, why wouldn’t you want to match your scent with your bae’s? Exactly. We think the new perfume pairs are perfect for any couple. Take Hugo Boss The Scent Intense For Her (£48 for 30ml, £69 for 50ml), with its notes of honeyed peach and cocoa, or Hugo Boss The Scent Intense For Him (£54 for 50ml, £72 for 100ml), which is a cocktail of ginger and leather. Spritz these on each of you and you’ll officially be the best-smelling couple ever. We’re not kidding.
3. They symbolise beautiful love stories
Perfume pairs symbolise one thing: love stories. And it’s not always your average boy-meets-girl tale. No. We love that each story is different: like the story of Armani Because It’s You for her (£47 for 30ml, £66 for 50ml, £87 for 100ml) and Armani Stronger With You for him (£43 for 30ml,£49 for 50ml, £68 for 100ml), which represents a power couple who bring out the best in each other and are TOTALLY head over heels in love. Or Paco Rabanne Olympéa Intense for her (£46 for 30ml, £62 for 50ml, £80 for 80ml) and Invictus Intense for him (£49.50 for 50ml, £69 for 100ml), the hero and heroine of the perfume world, who are bold, strong and passionate. Intrigued? Smell them for yourself.
