A new signature autumn scent can be hard to find, especially if you don’t want to let go of summer. Our advice? Take a look at the top new perfume trends, which we’ve rounded up for you. Trust us, you’ll be jumping into the new season with these…
Some of the best unisex scents have launched this year, and they're here to stay for autumn. We saw a buzz over them this summer, thanks to the launch of Calvin Klein CK One Summer and the Kierin NYC range, and the trend has become so mainstream that you’ll see unisex scents a LOT more. Cue Gucci Mémoire d’Une Odeur, which oozes a warm, soft blend of chamomile, bitter orange, jasmine petals and sandalwood (autumn in a bottle). And have you heard about The Perfume Edit? It’s The Perfume Shop’s first fragrance collection that’s unisex, vegan and 100% recyclable – and for autumn we’re loving Peppered Earth, combining leather, rose and pink pepper for an energetic and sensual 24/7 signature scent.
Like the beauty industry, the fragrance world is booming with sustainable, clean and planet-conscious products. We’re seeing more and more brands adopting a sustainability policy. Take Guerlain, for example, which produces fragrances with sustainability in mind (even transport from factory to store aims to reduce the carbon footprint). And we’re loving its latest launch, Guerlain Mon Guerlain Bloom Of Rose, for autumn events in the calendar (rose, lavender and vanilla). Kierin NYC is all the craze right now, with scents including Sunday Brunch (smells like it sounds, with Earl Grey tea and lemon) and Santal Sky (saffron and sandalwood). Even better, the collection is cruelty-free and vegan, so it’s a big thumbs-up from us.
What are perfume gadgets? They’re different and unique ways to apply your fragrance. This autumn, you can apply YSL Black Opium onto your skin from a perfume pen (yes, it’s a thing), thanks to the YSL Black Opium Click Shine On. Simply swipe the gel onto your skin and you’ll smell of orange blossom, coffee and vanilla all day long. There are Hugo Boss fragrances now in canisters, which are 100% air-powered sprays and great for when you’re on the move. Enjoy the wafts of apple and cinnamon in the Hugo Boss Boss Bottled spray, and the grapefruit and sandalwood in the Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Tonic version.
Warning: you may fall in love with some delicious gourmand fragrances this autumn because they’re everywhere. These scents have notes that smell of food and drink – and we’re obsessed. Fancy smelling like praline and berries? Choose Mugler Angel Eau de Toilette. If cinnamon and vanilla are more your thing, try The Perfume Edit Amber Glow. Whatever your preference, gourmand perfume should definitely be on your list. Incredible.
