Words: Emily Venables
On March 8th, we will be celebrating International Women’s Day. A very special day for ladies all over the world which has been observed since the early 1900s! Today, it is a global celebration of achievements of women from all over the world and an opportunity to recognise the changes that still need to be made.
So, to get ready for this important day we’re celebrating femininity with these beautiful, empowering and bold fragrances.
1. Good Girl by Carolina Herrera
There’s no other perfume that make a statement quite like Good Girl by Carolina Herrera. Herrera’s unique vision of the modern woman is audacious, elegant, sexy and enigmatic, who is always pushing and crossing the limits. Good Girl shows the world what the power of femininity looks and smells like… and we couldn’t be more into it for International Women’s Day if we tried!
2. Calvin Klein Women by Calvin Klein
Calvin Klein for Women is a fresh, yet warm, fragrance that aims to celebrate women with a sensual, empowering blend of lemon, white peony and ambrox ingredients. A striking female eye on the bottle embodies the opportunity for limitless female self-expression.
3. Pure XS for Her by Paco Rabanne
When Paco Rabanne launched Pure XS for Her, they weren’t messing around when it came to girl power! Their campaign, fronted by a confident Emily Ratajkowski, it encourages women to feel empowered and in charge, while demanding ‘Don’t call me a lady, call me a Queen!’. It’s fierce and fearless with notes of Ylang-Ylang, vanilla and the more unique salty-sweet popcorn!
4. La Vie Est Belle by Lancome
This scent truly deserves your attention. The uplifting La Vie Est Belle was revised over 5,500 times before being deemed good enough to release to the word! Was it worth it? Of course it was! The beautiful blend of precious orange blossom, jasmine, patchouli, vanilla and praline is simply divine.
Inspired by happiness, freedom and elegance the name translates to ‘Life is Beautiful’ - a feeling we’d wish for every woman around the world as they celebrate International Women’s Day.
5. Black Orchid by Tom Ford
Not a fan of floral notes but want to make a statement with your scent? Then cast your attention to Tom Ford’s Black Orchid. The main notes are musk, black truffle, patchouli, citrus, jasmine, woods and resins - so with this unique blend you’d be forgiven for not knowing which side of the gender fence is falls. Musk’s are usually reserved for a male fragrance and jasmine for a female, but what better day to throw out the rule book when calling for a more gender-balanced world on International Women’s Day?
Happy International Women’s Day!
