So it’s January, and that local gym you joined on New Year’s Day (after a great party the night before) is staring you in the face. Well, we say, DO IT. Make 2018 the year of the workout. But before you change into your gym gear, here’s what your fragrance gets up to while you’re sweating on the treadmill…
Exercise destroys your fragrance, but you can get around it...
We hate to break it to you, but exercise isn’t too great for your fave scent. Now before you burst into tears, here’s why. As your heart rate increases and you start to sweat, natural oils are produced in your skin that dilute the smell of your fragrance. Our solution? If you want to smell great while you sweat, spritz your fragrance lightly onto your workout clothes before you get dressed, or spray about two spritzes of a hair mist on the ends of your hair. For your workout clothes we’d recommend spritzing the floral Ghost Dream for her (rose, violet and musk) or the ultra-fresh Davidoff Cool Water Wave Man (grapefruit and marine splash accord), and for a hair mist, try Mugler Angel – it’s all the craze. Because who wouldn’t want the subtle smell of exotic fruits and honey surrounding them as they do their squats? Exactly.
Perfume can remove the bad odour of sweat
In the short term, perfumes can remove the smell of your sweat, especially during low-intensity exercises such as yoga or Pilates. We suggest spraying an energising, uplifting scent with water-based or floral notes: try Armani Acqua di Gio for him (marine notes, lemon and lime) or Gucci Bloom for her (jasmine buds and tuberose). Now isn’t that a treat!
DID YOU KNOW?
The more you work out, the more you’ll be able to smell your fragrance post-gym session. Yep! Exercise improves your brain function, enhancing your sense of smell. Hooray!
