We don’t mean to send you into a frenzy, but there’s an insect making shock waves in the perfume industry. Yes, the new sweet scents on the block are all inspired by the process of bees producing nectar 😱. And if you love the smells of honey mixed with florals, they’re right up your street…
First, a little lesson on bees: they collect nectar (a sugary liquid) from flowers to make into honey. And the smell of it in perfume is just as irresistible as it is to the bee!
You’ll probably start hearing about the nectar trend right now, but it actually launched in summer 2017, thanks to DKNY Nectar Love in its bottle decorated with gold bees with its fragrance of beeswax and orange flowers (if you haven’t tried it already, you’re totally missing out). Forget the feather fringes at Yves Saint Laurent and snakeskin skirts at Bottega Veneta on the SS18 catwalks – this season, it’s all about the bees, peeps.
Love Issey Miyake? We do. They’ve jumped on the bee bandwagon with the launch of Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pure Nectar. The smell? Honey mixed with pear and rose. The bottle? The same shape as Issey Miyake Pure but tinged with a pink and copper glow, to look divine on your chic dressing table.
Speaking of GORGEOUS bottles, cue the new Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Nectar. Joining the squad of bee-inspired scents, it’s as feminine and sweet as it looks. A floriental scent (floral ingredients mixed with oriental hues), it oozes jasmine sambac and orange flowers and has warm, gourmand hints of creamy vanilla and blackcurrant syrup. You can’t get better than that, eh?
So we say it’s time to soak up the nectar scents this spring/summer. They’ll keep you smelling sweet and fresh, the perfect combo for your am-to-pm adventures. A match made in heaven? We bee-lieve so.
