Success Stories

Every year we host a Conference for our store mangers. At this event we present The Perfume Shop Annual Awards. These celebrate the achievements of successful store teams and central office staff.

We advertise all Store Management and High Wycombe vacancies internally. This opens up opportunities for people from within the business giving everyone the option to apply. Internal advertising has really delivered for us in the and has facilitated many transitions across different stores and from Store to High Wycombe.

Here are a few of our Success Stories:

In September 2003, Sara joined The Perfume Shop as a Sales Assistant and worked in one of our top London stores. Sara was promoted to Senior Sales Assistant in July 2006. Sara had been carrying out her role as Senior Sales Assistant for over a year when she decided that she wanted a new challenge ‘behind the scenes’. At the time The perfume Shop was recruiting for a Buyers Assistant and Sara applied. This was both beneficial for The Perfume Shop and for Sara. We were able to retain her skills and experience and Sara she was able to stay in the company that she continues to grow within.

Another example comes from our Trainee Branch Merchandiser Suzie, who joined us in September 2006 as Sales Assistant for one of our Stores in East Anglia. Upon completing her degree, Suzie decided to pursue the career that she had trained in. After seeing the Merchandising position on our internal vacancies memo Suzie applied for the Trainee Branch Merchandiser position in High Wycombe and was successfully appointed in June 2008.

There have been numerous internal promotion success stories at The Perfume Shop since we first opened in 1991...

Matt started his career with The Perfume Shop at the start of 2001. he worked in the Warehouse as a Forklift Driver. Matt’s talents were quickly identified and he moved over to the Heath and Safety department as a Health and Safety Officer in January 2003. Since then Matt’s knowledge and skill has been critical in safeguarding the company successfully for many years. Matt’s loyalty and commitment saw him promoted in April 2004 to his current role as Health and Safety Manager.

One final note...

Our most famous success story is that of Chief Operating Officer, Jo Walker. Jo joined the company in September 1992 as the Store Manager of one of our first ever Stores in Birmingham. She was quickly promoted to Area Manager in 1993 and over the next 8 years progressed to Operations Manager and subsequently Operations Controller. In 2001 Jo was appointed Retail Operations Director and in May 2006 when TPS was acquired by AS Watson to Trading Director. Jo has been an absolutely fantastic TPS success story and earlier this year after movement within AS Watson, was appointed to Chief Operating Officer.

This is just a brief snapshot of the many different individual success stories at The Perfume Shop.
