Training
The Perfume Shop in keen to give its employees as much fragrance knowledge as possible, after all being the second largest fragrance retailer goes hand in hand with having the experience and the know how to fuel the advice that we give to our customers.
We have an excellent in house training scheme which focuses on specific areas of product knowledge and customer service and works well to familiarise all our new employees with The Perfume Shop values and expectations. However, in today’s market of high customer expectation we realise that this alone can not bring about the specialist fragrance knowledge that we need to make our business really stand out from the crowd.
We have a close working relationship with The Fragrance Foundation, who offers the opportunity for those in the sector to undertake a CFSS (Certified Fragrance Sales Specialist) course which enables their students to achieve an industry recognised qualification, developing them to become Fragrances Sales Specialist. In 2007 The Perfume Shop sponsored 35 employees to undertake this course. Specifically 26 managers completed the course, the other employees included Senior Sales Assistants, Sales Assistant and employees from High Wycombe. We have pushed this even further in 2008, sponsoring 45 of our employees. This is a fantastic opportunity for any of our employees and although is hard work does really pay off when they can impart their knowledge of ‘notes’ and ‘layering’ to the customer which inevitably leads to a happy customer, a happy employee and a happy profitable store.
The CFSS has become an integral part of the passion at The Perfume Shop as it shows not only the industry but our competitors that we really do mean business and that our brand, in conjunction with the CFSS, is becoming more and more exceptional and harder for others to imitate.
As a Company we realise how important it is to recognise those that have completed the CFSS course as they have put in that extra effort to internally build a TPS structure that is strong, positive and filled with passion, loyalty and commitment. So in light of this we awarded 15 of our managers their CFSS certificates at our ‘Las Vegas’ themed Conference in 2007, as shown in the pictures below. The other employees were awarded their certificates at other times during the year.
